No Más Gringo

Why No Más Gringo? Because real Spanish doesn't wait for you.

Most apps let you take all day to pick an answer. Real conversations don't. No Más Gringo is a Lucha Libre fighting game where every round is against the clock, so you train the fast recall that turns textbook Spanish into Spanish you can actually speak. In Mexican or European Spanish, slang included.

What makes it different

01 · Timed rounds

Pressure that builds fluency

In a real chat at a taquería in CDMX or a bar in Madrid, nobody pauses while you flick through a conjugation table. You need fuimos or íbamos now.

Every round in No Más Gringo has a rival on a timer. Answer right and fast and you land a hit; hesitate and you take one. That urgency is the point: it trains the same split-second recall of vocabulary and verb forms you need in everyday conversation, until the right form shows up on its own. As you rank up, rivals get quicker, from 11 seconds at Novato down to 4 at Leyenda.

02 · Fun

A game you actually want to play

Pick a masked luchador, step into the ring, chain combos into special moves. Each fighter's taunts play on a piece of grammar: Águila Roja is "El Que Ya Fue", the preterite; El General is "El Que Mandaría", the conditional.

After every answer a fighter explains what the right form means, and what your pick meant if you missed. You learn from the hit you just took.

03 · Your path

Practise what you need

No fixed lesson tree. Start from zero with a starter fight that places you by speed and accuracy, or take a quick check if you already speak some Spanish.

Then choose your rank, how hard the vocabulary gets, and exactly which tenses you drill: presente, pretérito, imperfecto, futuro, condicional and subjuntivo. Struggling with preterite vs imperfect? Fight just those two.

All of this is free. Premium features are on the way for deeper learning: more ways to shape your path and go further than the free game.

04 · Friends

Challenge your mates

Send a friend a link and they fight a ghost of your exact match, same questions, same rival. See who won, then go again with a rematch.

A daily streak and a Wordle-style result strip to share give you a reason to come back tomorrow.

05 · Your Spanish

Mexican or European Spanish, slang and all

Choose Mexican Spanish (Español Mexicano) or European Spanish (Español Peninsular, or Castellano) before you fight. The words, slang, voice and labels all follow, so you learn what people actually say where you're going.

Questions

How is No Más Gringo different from Duolingo?

Every round is against the clock, so you practise pulling the right verb form out of your head as fast as you would mid-conversation. You choose which tenses you drill, pick Mexican or European Spanish (slang like lana, chela and chamba included), and challenge friends to beat your exact fight.

Can I learn Mexican Spanish instead of European Spanish?

Yes. Pick Mexican Spanish (Español Mexicano) or European Spanish (Español Peninsular, also called Castellano) before you fight. The words, slang, voice and labels follow your choice: popote or pajita, alberca or piscina, chamba or curro.

Why do timed rounds help with Spanish fluency?

In a real conversation nobody waits while you work out a conjugation. Answering under time pressure trains fast recall, so the right form comes to you automatically instead of being worked out from a table.

What's the difference between Mexican and European Spanish?

Mainly everyday words and slang (carro vs coche, lana vs pasta), how you say "you all" (ustedes vs vosotros), how the recent past is said (hoy comí vs hoy he comido) and pronunciation (seseo vs distinción). No Más Gringo switches words, slang, places and voice to match the variety you pick. See the full comparison.

Is No Más Gringo free?

Yes. It plays in your browser on phone or desktop with nothing to install. Sign in with Google or email to save your rank and streak. Premium features for deeper learning are coming, and the core game stays free.

Which Spanish tenses can I practise?

Presente, pretérito, imperfecto, futuro, condicional and present subjuntivo. Turn each one on or off to build your own practice set.
